Eat’s a date: 8 Spices Thai Cuisine

Okay, so here comes my 4th food blog entry, My fashion blog is now turning into a food blog! LOL!!! Let me just call this blog a Lifestyle blog so it’s safe to inject other topics.

So here’s a review from our food tasting event held at Scout Borromeo Tomas Morato yesterday.

I really love the location of the place, its very “tago” so if you are hiding together with your date, better go here! =)))) The place was also very relaxing because of the trees outside.

Upon entering the resto you’ll see this little creature on the side. It’s for good luck I guess :)

See the lights on top? Shaped like a number 8! Owner Bryann Ang said, they named the place 8 spices because being Chinese, number 8 is lucky for them and also most of the thai foods are made from 8 spices.

Our menu for the day

The cute Thai chef introduced the dishes. They hired a Thai chef to remain the authenticity of the food.

Thai Milk Tea 85

— Freshly brewed black tea! Yum!!

Pomelo salad 305

— Unique kind of salad because they used pomelo. The amount of sweetness is just enough to complement with the taste and crunchiness of the coconut flakes.

Fried Pandan Chicken 130- 3pcs. 210-5pcs.

— I love fried chicken!! This chicken gives the usual chicken a twist because of the pandan taste. I also love it because the meat is tender and it is boneless. The sweet and spicy sauce is also delicious!

Spicy Seafood Soup small 320 large 380

— I’m not into spicy foods but I can say that it tastes good. The taste is a bit sour and the taste of the ginger is dominant.

Chicken in Coconut Milk Soup small 305 large 360

— My favorite! I don’t know why, but I love everything that has a coconut ingredient. The soup is thick and flavorful plus the chicken meat is tender.

Phad Thai with shrimp without egg 250 with egg 285

— More like a thai version of our lumpiang ubod with flat noodles. The noodles are very thick and I can feel the smoothness in my mouth. The taste is a mixture of sweetness and a little bit of sourness plus a crunchy texture.

Bagoong Fried Rice single- 185 platter- 295

— I’m allergic in bagoong but I can’t help myself in trying this dish. Compared to other bagoong rice, this one is not “malansa” maybe because they used authentic thai bagoong. The rice itself is salty but it really blends well with the flavours of the topings such as the sweetness of the adobo and the crunchy strips of green mangoes. Also I love the scrambled egg sidings.

Baked Pineapple rice with seafood in Chili Paste single 220 platter 390

— Spicy with a pineapple-ish taste. I love the overflowing seafoods inside. The shrimps and the fish fillet is to die for! The salted egg on top is yumy too, not too salty unlike regular salted eggs.

Beef Rendang 395

— Tastes like chicken curry, the sauce is too right to compliment with the beef that’s so soft and yummy.

Bangus sisis 220

— One of their original dishes! I love it because it looks creamy but when you taste it, it is really crunchy! You’ll never noticed that it is made from fish, not “malansa” and super yummy!

Whole Catfish with salt and Pepper 520

— The fish tastes fresh because it is alive and they will just cook it after you ordered. The meat is tender and flavourful. I love the sauce because it is sweet and I love the taste of the green and red bell peppers.

Thako 150

— My favorite dessert! Tried it before at Banana Leaf but this one is not just bigger but its also better. The sweetness is just too right for my taste buds and I love the coconut-y taste and the corn and sago at the bottom.

Black Sticky Rice 180

— The taste of the sticky rice is just right, not too sweet which is good because the custard on top is not that sweet also plus the caramelized sugar added an extra crunch.

8 July 12

Last Saturday….

Spent my Saturday attending two events! Good thing V is here in Manila to accompany me, He knows how “matatakutin and tamad” I am when it comes to commuting, so he’s there to teach me how to commute properly and to stop me from riding a cab! <3

First stop, I’m shoe inlove Bazzar at NBC tent!

Saw a lot of great finds! What I love is that they sell not only shoes but also accessories, bags, and also different kind of clothes. Here are some of my top picks!

Tribals and feathers are still in! :))

Spikes, Heel-less and Aztec <3 Click here for more photos :)

After that, we attended Manila Social Media Day held at Tea 101 Tomas Morato! This was my first time to attend this event and I’ve met a lot of Social Media enthusiasts, bloggers and photographers.

Unlimited Teaaaaaaaaaa!!! <3

Event Organizer, King del Rosario

Manager of Forever Flawless, (forgot his name) they are one of the sponsors :)

then we played Human Bingo so all of us can talk and know each other

A short talk about the emergence and the influence of social media to us by Direk Jose Javier Reyes.

Freebies! <3

Overall it was really a fun event! Regardless of the small venue, and the unlimited TEA, not MILK TEA! =))) Good thing I didn’t hesitate to come! Learned a lot from Direk Joey and from other professional bloggers. Looking forward for next year’s SM Day! Like Manila Social Media here for more updates.

Thank you Joshua for some of the pics!

How’s your Saturday guys? Don’t forget to join my ongoing giveaway here.
